Cincinnati Public Schools Asks Voters to Decide Five-Year Levy |
Proposed 7-mill tax measure would fund district operations |

Cincinnati Public Schools is asking voters to consider a five-year operating levy on the November ballot.
The proposal would impose a 7-mill property tax intended to help the district manage rising costs and maintain educational programs for more than 34,000 students.
District leaders estimate it would generate approximately $66.3 million annually over five years.
For a home with a market value of $100,000, the district estimates an added cost of roughly $245 per year, although each homeowner should check their own applicable estimate.
Superintendent Shauna Murphy has described the levy as an attempt to protect programs that would otherwise face difficult financial decisions.
District officials have held public meetings to answer questions about spending needs and the consequences of a failed measure.
The issue matters to families as well as property owners because it connects classroom resources with household budgets.
Approval is not a foregone conclusion; the proposal depends on voters in the applicable school district.
Residents should use the official ballot explanation and district materials to evaluate the measure before voting.
Voters should also confirm whether this levy appears on their own ballot.
The decision is scheduled for November 3, not yet made. |
