Public safety and business leadership are in focus in this Northern Kentucky update, with a new county police chief, a statewide chamber appointment and recognition for emerging local leaders.

Kenton County names Jim Gilpin police chief

Jim Gilpin has been named chief of the Kenton County Police Department after previously serving as assistant chief.

He joined the department as a patrolman in February 1998 and has worked in training, recruitment and officer development.

His new responsibilities include directing department operations and working with other law enforcement agencies across the county.

Northern Kentucky native to lead Kentucky Chamber

Kim Halbauer, regional president of Fifth Third Bank in Kentucky, has been elected chair of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce for the 2026–2027 term.

The Thomas More University graduate succeeds Condrad Daniels and brings experience leading banking operations and serving on regional boards, including CVG.

The appointment puts a leader with strong Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati connections at the head of the statewide business organization.

NKYP announces Next Generation Leader Awards finalists
